Step by step

Putting it on.

  1. Unfold the carrier

Open the Trailbud from its folded position. The frame locks into place automatically once fully extended. Make sure the seat is facing outward.

  2. Put it on like a backpack

Slip both arms through the shoulder straps and let the carrier rest on your shoulders. Adjust the chest buckle so it sits snug across your chest, not too tight, not too loose.

  3. Seat your child

With a second person helping (or by sitting on a bench), lift your child up and into the seat so they are sitting on your shoulders with their legs through the openings on each side.

  4. Fasten the seat belt

Clip the seat belt across your child's lap and adjust it snug. This holds them securely centred in the seat while you move.

  5. Secure the leg straps

Tighten the adjustable leg straps around each thigh so your child's legs are comfortable and held in place. Not too tight, just enough that they cannot slide.

  6. Go

Stand up, adjust the shoulder straps for comfort, and you are ready. Your child is up at eye level, secure, and sharing the view.

When you are done

Taking it off.

  1. Find a safe spot

Sit on a bench, step, or low wall, or ask someone nearby to help. Keep your child supported throughout.

  2. Unfasten the belt and leg straps

Unclip the seat belt first, then release both leg straps so your child's legs are free.

  3. Lift your child out

With one hand supporting your child, lift them up and over your head, or have someone take them from the front.

  4. Fold it flat

Fold the seat down against the frame. The whole carrier collapses thin, like a laptop, and slips into the included carry bag.

Good to know

Tips for a better ride.

  • Practice at home first. Try putting the carrier on and seating your child a couple of times at home before heading out. It gets faster every time.

  • Adjust the chest buckle height. The buckle should sit across your chest, not your throat. Slide it up or down until it feels natural.

  • Use the sun canopy on bright days. The optional clip-on canopy shields your child from direct sun. Remove it when you do not need it to keep the view open.

  • Bring the carry bag. Keep the included bag in your backpack or stroller so you always have a way to pack the carrier down when your child wants to walk.

  • Always buckle up. Even if your child seems secure, always fasten both the seat belt and leg straps before standing. It takes two seconds and keeps them safe.

  • Check the weight limit. The Trailbud is designed for children from around 6 months up to about 4 years (max. 18 kg / 40 lbs). Confirm the exact limit on the product page before your child rides.

Care and cleaning

Keep it fresh.

Spot clean the fabric with mild soap and warm water, then air dry completely before folding and storing. Avoid machine washing so the padding and frame keep their shape.

Store the Trailbud in its carry bag when not in use. Keep it out of direct sunlight for long periods to preserve the fabric colour.
